Dordt Worship Releases New Single

Dordtt

Dordt University recently issued the following announcement.

"I Belong to You" is a gospel and soul-infused, original single from Dordt Worship that released today for streaming or download on all major digital distributors. The song is the first ever co-write by Dordt worship coordinators and worship arts students in collaboration with London-based worship artists in residence, Geraldine Latty and Carey Luce.

With initial writing sessions starting the week before classes began, the song was arranged and recorded as a part of Worship in Contemporary Context, one of the foundational courses for worship arts students at Dordt. Students were able to see a song move from an initial concept to the final published piece. The song had its debut alongside the Dordt Community Gospel Choir in October.

“‘I Belong to You' captures a joyful adventure in listening to each other, praying, and writing together,” says Geraldine Latty, co-writer and worship artist in residence. “It captures moments of laughter and tears, hard work, teamwork, and celebration. We pray you catch the joy too!”

"Working with the Luces was like a collision of the most beautiful colors and glorious sound all mixed together,” says Kira Waite, senior worship arts major. “They showered me with ideas, but let my unique stylistic differences remain in the full production of 'I Belong To You.’ They were a blessing and an absolute joy to get to know. The best way I can describe it? God himself was encouraging and loving me through Cary and Geraldine."

“From nervous and prayerful beginnings comes this joy-filled declaration of the Father's love,” says Carey Luce, arranger and producer. “A creative synergy of worship arts students and worship artists discovering new ways to praise Jesus together. Our times together were characterized by joy and laughter in the writing, recording, and listening back. So much fun!”

"Getting to sing on ‘I Belong to You’ was an honor and an amazing experience,” says Nicole Mahoney, a freshman worship arts major. “It was such a blessing to work with and learn from Geraldine Latty and Carey Luce, who are after the heart of the Lord and seeking to bring him glory."

The album is available now for streaming or download on all major digital distributors including Spotify.

This original song features the creative work of many in the Dordt community.
