The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a reserve of money for child care and school-related child services for the upcoming school year, according to the Globe Gazette.
The board signed a fiscal agreement for more than $526,000 in state funds on July 14 with three North Iowa counties, including Hancock and Worth Counties.
The yearly fiscal agreement uses a fiscal agent to deposit funds into specific accounts, issue local board personnel-authorized payments and maintain separate documentation of all fund-related transactions.
Sen. Patty Murray (D-Washington) is working toward moving the bill through the U.S. Senate.
“[The bill would] grant $50 billion to child care providers affected by the coronavirus pandemic cover their expense,” Politico reported.
School Ready Children Services would receive $428,827 of the funding and the Early Childhood Program would receive $97,270.
The agreement will be in effect through June 30, 2021, in which it can be renewed at that time.
