The RT’s (formerly the Rad Trads)

Rt

North Iowa Area Community College issued the following announcement on October 11.

The NIACC Performing Arts and Leadership Series proudly presents The RT’s (formerly The Rad Trads) at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th, 2021. This presentation is part of the 2021-2022 Performing Arts and Leadership Series.

Brooklyn-based five-piece The RT’s (formerly The Rad Trads) are known for their eclectic take on rock n’ roll, which mixes punk rock energy, horn drenched soul, and precise musicianship with a lighthearted but sincere delivery. Already drawing lines around the block at home and gaining steam the world over, The RT’s bring to mind industry giants like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Wilco.

Meeting at New York University in 2012 as conservatory-trained instrumentalists looking to play with NYC’s best musicians, the group was “just a bunch of buds looking to play the bars and play whatever seemed to get the audience moving.” The band includes Patrick Sargent (vocals, saxophone, keys); Michael Harlen (bass, vocals); Alden Harris-McCoy (guitar, vocals); Michael Fatum (trumpet, vocals); and Jamie Eblen (drums). It wasn’t long until they developed a loyal connection with their audience.

It was at this time that each band member’s individual forays into original songwriting began, coinciding with the discovery that what its followers were enjoying most was the band members’ personal connections with each other. This, even more than the music itself, was making crowds come back for more.

Charged with a new enthusiasm, the members of The RT’s are ecstatic to be back in front of crowds, playing all new music from their 2020 record See You Again and their upcoming release, The RT’s.

“There is nothing like playing our music together on stage,” Eblen says. “Audiences all over missed it just as much as we did and it feels good to be exchanging that energy again.”
