Cerro Gordo County is preparing to test its election system on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The test, which is required prior to each election by Iowa law, is open to the public. It will be performed in the Election Annex at 121 Third Street Northwest in Mason City.
"In the 2020 General Election voters will vote on paper ballots that will be counted with optical-scan machines. A ballot-marking machine will be available in each precinct for any voter who needs assistance in marking the ballot," Cerro Gordo County Auditor Adam Wedmore said, according to the Globe Gazette.
Absentee voting will be available at the Cerro Gordo County Auditor's Office beginning Monday, Oct. 5. Every registered voter in the state of Iowa has the option to vote via absentee ballot this year because of the pandemic. Absentee ballot request forms have been mailed to every Iowa voter. Absentee ballot request forms can also be obtained at the county auditor's office.
