Absentee voting has officially begun in Iowa and the Cerro Gordo County Auditor's Office urges Iowa citizens to vote, KIMT reported.
Since the absentee voting option opened, Cerro Gordo County Auditor's Office has been busy informing voters who are wanting to make their voices heard ahead of the Tuesday, Nov. 3 deadline.
County Auditor Adam Wedmore said that he believes that records will be shattered during this election cycle.
According to Wedmore, over 9,400 ballots have been mailed out. That number also includes voters voting in person. The previous record was set in 2016 at 10,000 votes.
The auditor's office said on average, 150 voters stop in to vote in person. However, 234 voters came in to cast their ballots in person last week.
"From what I'm seeing from the aggregate data coming from the statewide level, it seems to be across the board in virtually every county is seeing very good turnout with either absentee voting in person or absentee voting by mail," Wedmore said.
