Without a statewide mask order in place, Iowa residents are simply left to their own devices as whether they should wear a mask.
Karla Gordon, owner of GG's Place in Nora Springs, acknowledged that some of her fellow Iowans wear masks and others do not. She, in turn, requires her employees to wear masks to help the older community.
Gordon said she doesn't think Iowa should implement a mask mandate though.
“I think it's everyone's choice if they want to follow the guidelines,” Gordon told KTTC. "I hope that people follow it."
Gordon said in a town of less than 1,500 people, they are doing a great job of respecting each other’s distance.
Sue Triplett, who visited Mason City with her spouse, said the number of people concerned in the county of Cerro Gordo County is lesser than that of Des Moines. Like Gordon, she does not favor a statewide mandate.
