Franklin County, located in northern Iowa, is facing an obesity surge, according to research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as reported in North Iowa Today.
According to CDC data, 42% of American adults are obese and that rate tripled the past 50 years.
In the past 10 years, 20.1% of Franklin County residents suffered from obesity. One of the top risks for being infected with COVID-19 is obesity.
According to North Iowa Today, there is other obesity data regarding Franklin County. Among the findings, Franklin County currently has a 46.8% obesity rate, almost 20% more than last year. And that 46.8% rating is close to 15 percentage points higher than the state rate.
And last but not least, the northern Iowa county ranked in the top 25 for the biggest obesity increases in the country.
