The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors approved several budget amendments at its May 26 meeting.
The Board heard the second amendment to the county's 2020 budget as well as an agenda item for amending the engineering department's budget. The three-member board approved $3,496,000 in amended expenditures and $2,055,000 in amended revenues for a net negative of $1,444,000.
Cerro Gordo County Budget Manager Heather Mathre told the Globe Gazette that the primary reason for changes is work on the engineering department's secondary road building, listed at $1,689,686. In addition, $454,025 is set aside for Cerro Gordo County Public Health and Cerro Gordo County Juvenile Detention and Probation. The "Small Business Recovery and Continuity Fund" is also slated to receive $100,000.
The county took in just over $500,000 for the sale of property near the North Iowa Fairgrounds. The largest losses were a net negative of around $300,000 for Cerro Gordo County Public Health and $286,700 for reimbursements to County Social Services.
Two million dollars of amendments were approved in January for secondary roads plans and work on the courthouse parking lot. Additional projects will likely be seen on future budget amendments.
