MercyOne North Iowa is providing drive-thru coronavirus testing at the North Iowa Event Center for people who meet specific criteria from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Individuals must undergo a screening by phone prior to visiting the testing site as there is a limited number of available test kits. Individuals with a fever, shortness of breath or cough are advised not to go to the emergency department and instead contact the COVID-19 call center so a nurse can determine whether they qualify to be tested.
“We are implementing a mobile testing location to keep possible positive cases away from other sick people,” MercyOne Medical Group North Iowa Senior Vice President Teresa Mock told Globe Gazette. “If you’re having mild symptoms, please self-isolate and recover at home regardless if it’s for a cold, flu or COVID-19.”
The North Iowa Event Center testing site is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..
