Dr. Anne Power Named Academic Dean of Business & Information Technology at DMACC Ankeny Campus

Dr. Power is a Tenured Faculty Member with Administrative Experience

  • Dr. Power most recently served as Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
  • The Denison native has extensive experience in higher education, working as a tenured faculty member specializing in Management and Management Systems

Dr. Anne Power, formerly of Sioux City, has been hired as a new Academic Dean of Business & Information Technology at the DMACC Ankeny Campus.

Dr. Power comes to DMACC from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., where she served as the Dean of the School of Business and Technology, and oversaw the Business and Economics, Computer Technology and Information Systems, and Technology and Applied Sciences departments.

“We’re very pleased that Dr. Power will be joining us here at DMACC,” said MD Isley, DMACC Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Her appointment as Dean of Business & Information Technology is well aligned with our commitment to build and expand our workforce partnerships in business and information technology, and her strong academic background aligns very well with our commitment to academic excellence and meeting accreditation standards.”

Dr. Power has extensive experience in higher education, including working as a tenured faculty member specializing in Management and Management Information Systems. She has held administrative positions, including Dean, Division Chair and Department Chair. Prior to her most recent position at Wayne State College, she also served as an associate professor of business and as chair of the Department of Accounting and Business at Morningside College in Sioux City.

At DMACC, Dr. Power said she will be striving to create quality industry partnerships to ensure that there is a highly skilled workforce in the region. 

“Our industry partners play a critical role by providing valuable insight on trends in order to create a quality curriculum for DMACC students,” Dr. Power said. “In addition, our students have the opportunity for experiential learning through internships with the businesses.”

Dr. Power earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa, an MBA in Information Systems from the University of South Dakota and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Power and her husband, Mike, have four children — Claire, Jack, Sam and Grace.
