NIACC To Host Spring Spotlight Campus Visits

North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) will hold Spring Spotlight campus visits for prospective students that highlight different programs offered at NIACC. Each event focuses on one of the seven Meta Majors along with a transfer/undecided event. Students will see campus, the dedicated labs and classrooms, and meet the faculty and staff who teach the classes.  Students who are unsure about their path are welcome to attend more than one spotlight event.  

Spring Spotlights will be held on the following dates in the Beem Center at 9:00AM: 

January 27 – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math): Explore, Analyze, Discover

 Explore the world and human body using the scientific methods of observation, experimentation, and analysis. Develop analytic skills in math and information technology and gain hands-on experience with labs, technology, and scientific tools. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in computer programming, engineering, finance, data analysis, exercise science, physical education, or biotechnology. 

February 10 – Humanities: Communicate, Create, Contribute 

Explore oral communication, writing, and creative expression. Develop your critical thinking skills while exploring your artistic interest. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in performing or studio arts, journalism, or language and communications 

February 24 – Health Sciences: Care, Heal, Rehabilitate 

Care for people, promote health, and help your community thrive. Develop teamwork skills and support individuals in need of diagnostic procedures, therapy, and medical care. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment as a nurse, physical therapist assistant, medical assistant, medical laboratory technician, radiographer, or surgical technologist. 

March 10 – Business: Lead, Manage, Build

 Develop management, leadership, customer relations, and partnership building knowledge. Explore the skills needed to grow your own business or develop skills required for high demand positions. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in accounting, management, marketing, or business administration. 

March 24 – Still Exploring: Transfer/Undecided: Develop, Connect, Identify

Develop skills that are essential to nearly all career pathways. Connect to the world around you and the potential inside you and identify new ideas and unexpected career paths. Grow as an individual and a citizen. This pathway is designed to help you identify a career pathway while completing a credential. 

March 31 – Skilled Trades: Construct, Solve, Investigate

Construct houses, robots, welding projects, and tool and die projects. Investigate and apply problem-solving skills in diesel and automotive courses. Solve heating and air conditioning and advanced manufacturing concerns. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in building trades, HVAC technology, industrial mechanics and maintenance, electromechanics, advanced manufacturing, and welding. 

April 14 – Education, Human and Public Services: Serve, Protect, Educate

Explore communities, relationships, and cultures. Spark discussions about the inner workings of society and culture and help create positive change. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in counseling, education, social work, community development, cultural research, human resources, or police work. 

April 28 – Agriculture: Grow, Cultivate, Produce

 Learn how to cultivate the land, produce livestock, and grow leadership and environmental skills. Develop critical thinking skills while operating agricultural machinery and technology. Learn the art of growing relationships and networking. Produce food, fuel, and fiber. This pathway is designed to help you move toward transfer or employment in agricultural marketing and finance, agricultural operations management, agricultural sales and services, and agriculture technology.
