Waverly City Council recently gave its approval to several ordinances impacting the Waverly Golf & Country Club, including a measure to purchase the club and its assets.
During the meeting, which was streamed on YouTube, the council agreed to purchase the property, including the acreage and structure, after the business fell behind on its taxes and utilities and could no longer remain in business.
“I would just comment as the council liaison to the Golf Commission, but as a non-golfer, I've been really impressed over the months that I've been involved in those meetings at how the Golf Commission and Jordan have been very creative and progressive and just forward thinking,” Alderwoman Julie Meyers said. “I think that's really showing us good results.”
During the session, the council agreed by a 7-0 vote to set prices for the 2023 season, including season pass prices and fees. It was noted during the session that club memberships will cost $500 and cart rentals $125, while shed rentals will be $300.
The council also reached an agreement, also by a 7-0 vote, with T Snap LLC for beverage annual cart services at an annual price of $8,100.
During the session, it was noted that the agreement with T Snap includes iPad subscription fees for the firm’s point-of-sale system to be used by staff for transactions.
The council also approved an ordinance to approve a closing statement and a purchase price for the club and its assets for $120,000. The council learned the price increased slightly due to some miscalculations.
