Of the 5,415 people living in Algona in 2020, 54.5 percent (2,953) were women and 45.5 percent (2,462) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the North Iowa Reporter.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by 19. In the 65 and over age range, there were 928 females and 479 males.
