Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Don’t forget to vote in the upcoming Local Option Sales and Services Tax election on March 1st.The proposed City Public Measure A would earmark 90% of LOSST funds for street/road construction in Charles City and 10% for Public Safety due to increased ambulance, police and fire costs.
The County Public Measure B earmarks 100% to fund secondary roads, including rock, bridges and culvert repair and/or replacement, as well as construction projects in unincorporated Floyd County.
If approved, the new tax term would be from January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2032.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m to 8 p.m on March 1, but absentee ballots can be submitted now. Visit the Floyd County Auditor’s Facebook page for a complete list of polling places.
