Algona Area Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

HOLIDAY LIGHTING CONTEST

There will be a map available at www.algona.org for any "light seekers" wanting to check out the festive displays after December 13

Description

Holiday Lighting contest.

1.  Registration deadline is Thursday, December 9

2. Registration is free.  To register, visit www.algona.org or call the Algona Chamber at 515.295.7201

3.  Registrants must live within a 5-mile radius of Algona

4.  Lights/displays must be up December 12 - December 22

5.  Lights should be lit from dusk until 10PM

6.  Two winners will be awarded:

      Best Classic Light Display:  Judges will choose the winning entry based on their personal preference and will be looking for a beautiful display of lights that invokes the warm feeling of Christmas.

     The Clark Griswold Award:  We are looking for a display of lights that makes the light meters whirl and Aunt Bethany ask if the house is on fire!  If your neighbors are Todd and Margo you may want to warn them to close the blinds.

7.  Each winner will receive $100 gift card from State 5 Theatre

8.  Winners will be announced at 3:00PM on December 23 via social media.

9.  Judges will be made up of select community members

10.  Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior.
