HRANI Employment Law Conference with various important topics concerning todays employers.  Great for the HR professional or for the small business needing brush up on current employment law practices.

9:30- Party of One- HR on Your Own (Jo Ellen Whitney, Dentons Davis Brown)

Managing HR as one person can pose special problems as you try to assess complex HR basics, as well as detailed issues such as ADA/ADAAA leave and accommodation.  Streamlining can be critical and in this interactive session participants will be able to assess process as well as legal issues.

10:45- What Crawled Out from the COVID Rock: Employment Update 2021-2022 (Jo Ellen Whitney, Dentons Davis Brown)

This session will look at current issues in employment from vaccine mandates to paid leave as well as other legal COVID issues employees are facing.  Participants will focus on how these legal changes fit into existing employment frameworks as well as practical solutions to ongoing problems.

1:00-  Mock Trial (Jill Jensen-Welch & Rachel Soderstrom, Dickinson Mackaman Tyler & Hagen, P.C. )

Have you ever wondered how it feels to testify at trial in an employment case, under less-than-friendly cross-examination from a former employee’s attorney? This session will give you a peek at it. The testimony will cover FMLA claims. In the interactive debrief following the role play, we’ll discuss what the HR professional could have done better when testifying, what she could have done better when handling the events that led up to the litigation, and how the litigation might have been avoided altogether.
