Location: Charles City Public Library106 Milwaukee St, Charles City, IA 50616, USADescription:
Iowa Holocaust Council member and educator Brad Wilkening will present his program a bout the Lessons of the Holocaust in the Charles City Public Library Zastrow Meeting Room.
This program will discuss the rise of the Nazi Party and how Hitler came to power in Germany. Wilkening will also share some Holocaust survivor stories. Wilkening’s main purpose for sharing this program is for us all to realize that decisions we make have consequences and not making decisions has consequences as well. This presentation will last for about an hour.
Wilkening said about his program, “Bullying and indifference start at an early age, and we have a responsibility to help create a safer more caring environment. We need to be upstanders and not bystanders in the face of evil. My goal is to keep the lessons of the holocaust alive.”
Brad Wilkening started teaching in 1975, and has taught in many schools around Iowa. In 2009, he attended a class at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and developed a semester-long course about the Holocaust to teach to high school students. In2015, he began sharing his Lessons of the Holocaust presentation in schools and libraries across the state of Iowa.
This event is free and open to the public. For questions or more information, please contact the library at 641-257-6317.
